Life on Earth Without Technology

Imagine Earth stripped of all technology, no electricity, no internet, no machines, no phones, no cars. Humanity must adapt to a life that feels both ancient and unfamiliar. How do people survive? What happens to communication, medicine, education, and relationships? Does society collapse or thrive?

Prompts

Setting: Where does your story take place? A busy city, a quiet village, or somewhere else?

Characters: Who is your main character? How do they react to losing technology? Are they scared, excited, or hopeful?

Conflict: What problems do people face without technology? How do they solve them.

Mood: Is your story hopeful, sad, funny, or tense? You decide!

Sensory details: Describe what the world looks, sounds, and feels like without machines and screens.

Calling all artists:

Here is our latest brief:

Visualising a World Without Technology

Create an artwork that shows what life on Earth might look like if all technology disappeared. Think about how people would live, travel, communicate, and entertain themselves. Would cities look abandoned? Would nature take over? Would people gather around fires or rivers?

Prompts

Setting: Choose a scene e.g. urban streets without cars, a classroom without screens, or a rural community adapting to a tech-free life.

Mood: Decide on the tone e.g. peaceful and harmonious, or chaotic and struggling.

Details: Show contrasts between what used to be (technology) and what is now (manual tools, nature, human interaction).

Medium: You can use drawing, painting, collage, or digital art.

Tip: Use colour and texture to show emotion e.g. warm tones for hope, dark tones for uncertainty.

Our deadline for both of these competitions is Friday 6th March.
