Young Carers Group

HCYC Young Carers Group offers young carers the chance to have fun, try new activities, learn something new and meet other young people in similar situations.

A young carer is a young person who has additional caring responsibilities (emotional or physical) due to a member of their family being ill, having a disability, experiencing mental health difficulties or misusing alcohol or drugs; and these caring responsibilities are negatively impacting their lives (e.g., socially, educationally, physically or emotionally).

To access the group, the young carer must be aged 11 (year 7) to 18 and live in the Harborough District. We can support transportation if this is a barrier to a young carer being able to attend.

(We can also signpost to other possible support for young carers under 11 years, so please still get in touch if this applies).

The group meets fortnightly in Market Harborough from 6.30 to 8.30pm. All activities are free

Young carer referrals

If you are a young carer, think that you might be a young carer, are a parent/guardian of a young carer or someone working with a young carer, please get in touch via the contact details below. The Young Carers Group leader will be in touch to provide further information and let you know how to make a referral.

Group activities

The sessions include a variety of activities which change from week to week. Recently the young carers have made cookies, played games and taken part in a day trip to play mini golf and visit a bowling venue.
