What She Did

We are thrilled to announce the winner of this term’s poetry competition! We invited you to explore creativity through two inspiring themes: Someone You Admire/A Role Model or The Winter Season. The entries were full of heartfelt words and vivid imagery, making it a tough decision for our judges. After much consideration, one poem stood out for its originality, emotion, and beautiful expression.

Congratulations to Willow Sweet-Wood from Robert Smyth for the winning poem.

What she did was fill me with joy,

her stories more interesting than any toy.

Her jokes made me laugh more than anything else,

the best mum that made everyone jealous.

What she did was cook the best meals,

not as good as dad’s but it still appeals.

Even though I have one sister and two bros,

she always finds places only we go.

What she did was fuel my passion,

when I do plays, she springs into action.

Even when she’s angry she doesn’t hesitate,

and to each other we’ll always be best mates.

What she did was love me to bits,

and she’ll never ever let me forget it.

So, whenever life feels dumb,

I remember what she did.
